SNSD releases first Japanese repack album in Korea
SNSD will release their first Japanese album Girls’ Generation and their repackaged album Girls’ Generation: The Boys on February 9 in Korea. There are two versions of both albums: CD, and CD with DVD.
Girls’ Generation was released on June 1 in Japan and set a new record in album sales during the first week of it’s release as a foreign artist. They also ranked first on the Oricon weekly album chart for the first time as a Korean girl group. They went Double Platinum by selling over 500,000 copies .
The group released their repackage album on December 28 of last year and sold over a million copies as a Korean group. They ranked on the Oricon weekly top-ten album chart for 17 weeks. This was the longest term for a Korean singer or group to be listed in the Top 10 list.
The album includes 12 songs including, “Gee,” “Genie,” “Run Devil Run,” “You-aholic,” and “Let it Rain.” The DVD includes three music videos for the songs, “Mr. Taxi,” “Genie,” and “Gee.”
The repackage album includes 15 songs, including, the Japanese version of the title song “The Boys” from their third Korean album, the unreleased song “Time Machine,” and the remix versions of, “Mr. Taxi,” “Bad Girl,” and “The Great Escape.” The DVD includes the English version of “The Boys” and “Bad Girl” music videos.
SNSD recently appeared on an American talk show and they will also appear on the French talk show Le Grand Journal to perform “The Boys” for the first time as a Korean singing group.
